WHAT WE DO

We like to work with your "unplanned street photography", for the surprise and spontaneity it brings with it, and to draw out the potential of those better shots. We apply software techniques for artistic effect, and we deliver "surprise" portraits for all to enjoy.

CHOOSING AN IMAGE STYLE

Styles [SL05,FY08,PL08]. This is a shortand that names three styles from our galleries. All of our gallery entries carry such Style Reference Numbers, which can be used to show the styles that seem best suited to any given photo. By suggesting THREE styles, you give us some latitude because a style that works for one image may not work well with another.

BORDERS AND FRAMING

Border [SL05]. A shorthand for the type of border that is preferred.

Size [4in x 6in]. Image size and picture-frame size, inclusive of any border.

Slot-Size [w x h] in mm. For photos to be fitted in a multi-slot frame.

ABOUT COPYRIGHT

We make no copyright claim on your images, even after we've worked on them free of charge.

We sometimes draw on public domain images whose copyright has expired. We always avoid any conscious use of copyrighted images. If any infringement should came to light, we would immediately remove the contested image.

ABOUT PHOTO FILES AND PAPER PRINTS

Photos from your digital camera are saved on your computer as "jpg" images, so they have names ending in ".jpg" such as "image123.jpg".

Image sizes are measured in pixels (or dots) with sizes often in thousands. For example, 4000x3000 means 4000 dots wide and 3000 dots high.

Photos in the form of ".jpg" image files are routinely sent as email attachments, but, for re-working, they should be sent at their full size. Email programs may try to reduce the size before sending, and this must be avoided.

If the image is a paper print, it must first be scanned to generate a ".jpg" file for sending. Set the scanner to 300 DPI (dots per inch) before scanning. If you don't have a scanner, you can ask a friend, or use a commercial photocopy service.

PHOTO SIZING AND PRINTING

For any image worth displaying, you will first need to print it. For smaller prints (up to about A4 or Letter size), or if you're in a hurry, you can print right away on a standard photo printer, but the results may be variable.

For larger prints, and assured high quality, it is best to order prints online, an option that is hard to beat for low pricing, and rapid turnaround -- as well as quality. Here is one such online print service:

This printing site will show you all the popular print sizes and the standard frame sizes, as well as the printing costs. (You may be surprised at the low cost of, say, an 8"x10" print). Consult the above site to help decide the frame size for your photo.
